Body Off Frame

03-14-2012

The guy came and looked at the body to see if he would be able to paint it. We both discussed how great the body is, especially for its age. April and I both love a color that is best described as Ice Blue. This is what we plan on our car looking like.

We decided it would be easier to replace the front fenders and the vented aprons on the side had some rivets in them so April ground them down and hammered them out.

Today my nephew Jacob came over and helped me out with getting the body off the frame. It's a good thing he was here because I wouldn't have been able to get the frame out and the body on the saw horses without his help. We started by getting all the body bolts out. Also, the remainder of the front suspension came in today.

Even after all the bolts were out the body was still stuck to the frame so we lowered the body and frame down to the ground and used the floor jack to put pressure on the body and I got the hammer and chisel to help separate them.

The saw horses turned out to be pretty high and I wasn't tall enough to lift the body up high enough to get them underneath

So we went and got the straps we use to tie cars down to the trailer and we ran them over the frame and under the body. With the lift we were able to easily raise the body.

Then it was up on the saw horses

And after putting part of the frame on the floor jack I was able to raise the passenger side of the frame up and over the legs of the lift and with Jacob pulling on the jack we were able to slide it outside.

A couple more things to remove from the frame and it will be ready to take to the sandblasters.
