Steers

April and I went to the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville a few weeks back to order some parts and get some ideas.  While there we picked out a steering wheel.  We both think this is a very important detail that many people seem to put little care into.  I've spent a lot of time researching the available options and we both agreed that what fit best was a wheel from Juliano's.  April liked the classic look and similarly I liked that it looked more like an original wheel than a standard streetrod wheel.  These guys are located in America and everything is American made in house.  This wheel cost a small fortune, but since we plan to keep this car forever we both felt that spending a little extra now is worth it in the long run to make the car look and feel the way we envision it.  It will take 2 or 3 extra payments just for this wheel, but we both felt it was well worth it.  April picked out the type of spokes she liked and the horn button.  I'm going to look into the possibility of having the Chevrolet script and logo cut into the smooth horn button to mimic the styling that's found on the hubcaps.  This would be a small detail that would hopefully help the wheel look closer to something that might have come stock on the vehicle rather than a typical aftermarket streetrod part.  The hubcap looks like this:

When the wheel came in the mail this week I waited to let April do the honors.

Various colors were available, and in fact because everything about the wheel is custom made in house they can pretty much do anything you can dream of, but they also charge a very large sum to put those dreams into reality, so we stuck with the simple and basic job of having them paint it black.  It looks much better and is more durable to have them paint it black prior to assembly than for us to try to do it later.
